Lost Treasures Recovery
The methods we employ in our Lost Treasures recoveries projects are numerous and varied.
We learn of various lost treasures by researching old maps, diaries, books, magazines, online forums and by word of mouth.
We also learn of lost treasures from private individuals that believe a deceased relative or ancestor may have buried or hidden treasure on the property they have since inherited.
The first step in the recovery process is locating the treasure. We do this in several ways. One method is through the utilization of technology in the forms of handheld metal detectors.
Another method is by the utilization of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) units.
Once the treasure is located and recovered, we attempt to turn it over to the rightful owners.
If a rightful owner is found or if the rightful owner had secured our services to locate and retrieve the treasure, we then recieve a recovery award or reward that is usually equal to 20% of the total actual value of the treasure.
If there are no legally rightful owners to claim it, it is usually sold at auction with the proceeds going into our organizations General Business Fund to help fund our recovery and charitable activities, provide compensation to agents of our organization and to fund our grants and givings programs that benefit private or public organizations and individuals as well as also providing support for the various children's medical research and treatment facilities listed in the Art/Artifact/Relic revoveries programs pages.
